Martdom sells and installs doors, windows and flooring. Clients say they’ve never met installers who listen to classical music while they work.
Monserrat + Lato
Martdom works in what might seem a very ordinary industry, but it’s an unusual company. Despite its relatively small size — a team of a dozen or so — it comes closer than any business we know to putting the idea of a “teal” organisation into practice. Its remarkable respect for employees’ individuality, and willingness to let them make even the decisions usually reserved for the owner, attracts people who are committed and independent. We’ve used Martdom ourselves. The crews not only did their own work better and faster; they also took it upon themselves to oversee other teams’ work, without anything in it for them. Dealing with a company with that kind of culture is a pleasure. It’s also undeniable proof that there are exceptions to the rule that “nobody will look after your interests better than you will”.
